Four Female YouTubers that Inspire Confidence and Healthy Living
Examples of What Leadership in Health and Fitness Should Look Like
Most people use YouTube as a great source of entertainment, but these four women also use YouTube as a learning resource.
These YouTubers all come from different backgrounds, but what they have in common is their ability to inspire viewers to live confidently and health conscience.
Stephanie Lyn (Life Coach)
Stephanie can be heard on her podcast, “Heal, Survive, Thrive”, has a major Instagram following, and delivers some of the most confidence-boosting content on YouTube.
As a Life and Relationship coach, she makes videos ranging from self-worth and self-esteem, to self-love, the process of forgiveness, and setting boundaries in a relationship.
All of her videos are the perfect length to retain her audience while filling them with free life advice, step by step, and with extremely clear communication.
What makes her so inspiring is that she gives her audience snippets of a view into her own life, her struggles, and her daily routines that keep her going.
This vulnerability makes her extremely relatable, and therefore gives you, the viewer, trust in what she has to say and inspiration to start making these changes in your own life.
Stephanie Buttermore
Originally known for her crazy 10,000 calories cheat videos, this doctoral bodybuilder is changing the look of YouTube fitness. In May of 2019, Stephanie started her “All-In” journey as an approach to ending her chronic hunger. As a fitness icon and bodybuilder, Stephanie felt a lot of pressure to maintain her physique. Yet, she knew something was wrong based on how she never felt satisfied or full by the end of her meals.
To read about her journey in-depth, I recommend reading Clara’s take on Stephanie’s Journey;
During her “All-In” journey, Stephanie details her experience with intuitive eating. During this process, she also went through periods of weight gain and weight loss. She does an excellent job of communicating these personal struggles she went through and any emotions it brought up for her. By being vulnerable and honest with her audience, it humanizes her experience and helps views understand just how much work goes into self-improvement and reaching challenging health goals.
Michelle Khare
This ex-Buzzfeed producer has come a long way. On her YouTube show, “Challenge Excepted”, Michelle pushes herself to her limit to train in a new discipline every episode. The challenges range from training to be a Broadway star, to training to be a police officer, to training to be an astronaut. The list goes on.
Michelle spares no detail through her struggles of each challenge. Her honesty and perseverance are what inspire the viewer. So often, she talks about how she never thought she would be able to complete the challenge, and by the end, this average woman has completed the task and blown her audience away.
Michele also has a show called “Extreme Body Makeovers”, where she takes friends, family, or even subscribers on an extreme fitness journey for six weeks. There may not be extreme physical differences with her guests before and after their journey, but the emotional ride is inspiring to watch.
Keltie O’Connor
An ex-college basketball player, Keltie is a Canadian Gym-shark Athlete known for her “Workout Trend” and celebrity fitness challenges, including training like Tom Brady, Eating The Rock’s cheat meals, and completing an Olympic Gymnast’s stretching routine for a month.
What makes her so unique is her formatting of each video. First of all, she clues you in on all of the research she has done in preparation for the video, all while letting her personality shine through. Like the other female YouTubers mentioned previously, she makes sure her audience understands her personal struggles during the challenge.
Keltie also includes snippets of her day that may have nothing to do with the challenge. Again, this makes her relatable to viewers and it also inspires viewers by seeing that anyone can challenge themselves with perseverance, planning, and positivity.
Why does this matter?
So often in the health and fitness industry, women portray their lives and work ethic as something extremely easy if you just get up and do it. This “Influencer” lifestyle is not realistic at all and can impose self-conscious emotion onto the viewer, making them feel like they are not enough.
What these YouTubers do best is give you all the information you need to set and work on your health and fitness goals while also exemplifying how hard it is to put in the work. Whether the viewer is wanting to complete a challenge, or work on their own mental struggles, these women show exactly how hard work and dedication will help you get closer to your goals. They also preach that it is possible to remain confident as a work-in-progress if you haven’t reached your goals yet.
This positive, self-loving, and inspiring content is what the future of the women’s health and fitness industry should look like.
